Dr. Frederick Greene Joins ERS as Chief Medical Officer
Internationally Recognized Cancer Surgeon and Cancer Registry Standards Leader Joins ERS
To Drive Continued Innovation in Cancer Care
Cincinnati, OH, April 30,2021. ERS is proud to announce and welcome Dr. Frederick Greene as our Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Greene’s extensive background in cancer care and related passion for the Cancer Registry is well-recognized nationally and beyond. “We’re beyond excited to have Dr. Greene join our team,” said Rohit Nayak, CEO of ERS. “His vision, drive and engagement in Cancer Registry standards has played a significant role in the evolution of this important function over the last 30 years.”
Dr. Greene literally wrote the book on Cancer Staging. In addition to his practice as a surgical oncologist, Dr. Greene is a member of a number of editorial boards including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Surgical Endoscopy, CA-A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, is Associate Editor of Annals of Surgical Oncology, and is Senior Editor of General Surgery News. Dr. Greene has served on the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and as the Chairman of the Commission. He has represented the American College of Surgeons on the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) and served as Chair of the AJCC from 2000-2004. Dr. Greene has served as Vice-Chair of the TNM Staging Core Group of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) based in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Greene is Editor of the 6th, 7th and 8th Editions of the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual.

Dr. Greene also serves as Medical Director of Cancer Data Services at the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, NC and is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He previously served as Chairman of the Department of General Surgery and Surgical Residency Program Director at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. In addition to being the recipient of numerous awards over the years, his publications have included approximately 200 papers, 60 book chapters, and two textbooks relating to cancer surgery and, specifically, the use of laparoscopic surgery in the management of cancer patients.
